How to Use LinkedIn: Humble Brags & Popular Posts

Do you offer humble brags and personal updates on LinkedIn? 

Or do you stick to your expertise and offer quality advice? 

On LinkedIn, apparently it’s all about offering “knowledge and insights” - and ideally specifically within the area of work that you’re an expert in. 

From my own  LinkedIn profile, I love sharing knowledge about marketing, startups, the gender gap, and mindset in business. 

LinkedIn is part of my consistent marketing activities. I aim to publish someone at least once a week. For years, this has helped to build my audience and awareness in the startup industry. 

I aim to share knowledge and resources that are useful for people. And occasionally I share a humble brag - always trying to intro the good news with something other than the classic phrase: “I’m so excited to announce….” 

An excerpt from the Smart Company article:

“Have a unique perspective If you want to stand out, it always helps to offer something a little different to everyone else. “Share a side of the story that no one else has. We reward posts that provide opinion, advice or perspective,” LinkedIn said.

Is there a different way you can approach a trending topic? Do you have a unique insight that can add to the conversation?

Encourage conversation Like most social media platforms, a lively comments section is going to help push your posts further. “We’re looking to see that the post is driving meaningful comments from relevant users,” LinkedIn said.

Find ways to encourage conversations in your comments to help push your posts out to more people — calls to action, posing meaningful questions, asking other experts in the field to offer their own insights into a topic”
