Like many people in startups, I’m super passionate about what I do and I feel so grateful to work with the forward-thinking teams I do.
But of course, not everything is sunshine and rainbows - especially when it seems like the entire industry is hyper focused on rapid growth and easy outcomes.
To showcase what I got up to in 2022 and some lessons I’ve learned along the way, I’ve put together a mini version of my 2022 Spotify Wrapped with a bit of ‘social media vs reality’.
We’re less than 15% of the way through 2023 and it almost seems like it’s too late to be reflecting on 2022.
I’ve heard that “February is the new January” and I like this slow and steady approach to starting the new year. I know it’s already mid-Feb(!!), but it’s never too late to look back, reflect on wins, consider lessons, and make better plans for the future.
Overall, 2022 was a fantastic year. With 2020 and 2021 behind us, I hit the ground running and was excited to work with ambitious brands...
But of course, there were a few times (read: many) where I lost focus on what’s really important to me. Being multi-passionate with workaholic tendencies means that while work isn’t everything in life, there were several times in 2022 where I let work take over my life.
Each year, I feel like I have to refocus and rebalance to focus on what I really want, making the classic “new year, new me” change.
I’ve got ‘eyes bigger than my stomach’ when it comes to work and learning new things—my follower-to-following ratios on social media demonstrate how I want to LEARN ALL THE THINGS! So I'm constantly adjusting to what's actually possible, leaning into what works for me, and embracing small steps.
For me, I like to try to create things that do good in the world and I aim to have fun with my work - which is why I spent a bit of time putting this reflection together. Alongside 10 memes that summarize a few fun marketing and startup moments.
