Disrupt Radio: The Advisory Board Interview - Do You Need to Code?

A dream of mine came true to be interviewed by this dream team.... 💫

Disrupt Radio: The Advisory Board with Alan Jones and Megan Flamer

They’re both startup wizards dedicated to supporting thousands of startup founders, teams, and communities around Australia.

Every week, they help founders tackle real issues, share practical tips with hope, and show them how to win the day with kindness - and a little tough love.

Episode 13: Do You Need to Code to Found A Startup?

In today's Advisory Board show, Megan and Alan discussed hiring and the power of helping others - before digging into the possibilities of no-code tools. 🛠️

These are people dedicated to helping people.

Megan emphasized that it’s part of their life purpose to help people achieve their big dreams.

Alan made a point that helping 5 people will pay off so much more than getting 5 people to help you will.

I joined the convo and tried to provide value from my knowledge of no-code tools. I’m a marketer by trade and run 100% of my business through my laptop. There are literally thousands of no-code tools to choose from and they’re powerful.

I’ve also created a fun no-code tool so that people can learn about history through Women of Statue. 🗿

"Tune in for a concentrated shot of advice that'll answer your questions, unlock your potential, and fuel your success."

Listen to the episode to hear Alan, Megan and I chat about how startups don’t need to code to launch digital products.

Wondering what’s possible with no-code tools? THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!

Pumped to be featured on Disrupt Radio today on The Advisory Board show with the dream team startup wizard Alan Jones and mindfulness leader Megan Flamer!

We're discussing: Do you have to code in order to start a startup?

IMO, definitely not! All online tools have a bit of a learning curve, but it's all about learning where to click.

Tune in later today to hear some tips I've got up my sleeve about automation, testing ideas, building products and creating digital tools for attraction marketing.

Here’s a screenshot of the no-code tool I made for fun! I wanted to showcase what you can do with no-code tools - so I collected a single spreadsheet of data to create a webapp with Glide.

Women of Statue showcases statues, monuments, and dedications for women around the world - and users can search by location, person, or year created. 🗿

Dame Agatha Christie is one of the women who was honoured by a statue. Agatha Christie is of course the famous mystery writer of Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile - and she created the hero characters Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple.

Agatha Christie within Women of Statue

While Agatha was definitely not perfect, it's clear her imagination has inspired BILLIONS of people around the world. During her lifetime, she sold over 300 MILLION books - and now has sold over 2 BILLION copies of her 66 detective novels and15 short-story collections. She was honoured in 2012 with a statue in London. 🌏

Within Women of Statue, I haven’t listed every single statue of women around the world - so if you know of more you can submit them via the app too and I’ll get them added to the list.

I'm fascinated by no-code tools and am consistently looking for more fun ways to streamline businesses, make engaging tools, and supporting customers through no-code. 🤖
Shout out to Unicorn Factory and Rebel Book Club who’ve got amazing businesses running on no-code tools and have shared online how they do it. I love the building in public

After my +10 years supporting businesses and +5 years in the startup world, I shared my experience from building with no-code tools and supporting founders to test quickly (or build MVPs) with no-code tools.

There are so many founders that have ideas for how they could support their customers solve a problem - and that there are so many wonderful tools to use to create these solutions.

📲 Examples of No-Code Startups 📲

I used the kiwi freelancer marketplace Unicorn Factory as an awesome example of a founder, Connor Finlayson, building in public and sharing how he made the platform with a mix of no-code tools.

I highlighted the UK Rebel Book Club that's scaled their non-fiction community of readers to over $10K in MRR - and their online business is all built with no-code tools.

I mentioned the possibilities of community and content creation with epic new platforms like Sunroom which is changing the way women can share online and earn money while holding space for others. 🛠️
